For healthy drives that will be redeployed, reused, or otherwise kept in service. The drive goes through a documented sanitization process aligned to NIST SP 800-88, and the result is recorded against its serial number.
Physical processing
For drives that are failed, retired, obsolete, or covered by a policy that rules out reuse. The drive is physically disabled so it cannot be put back into service, then enters our recycling and downstream disposition process.

The drive is damaged, dead, or unreadable, so it cannot be sanitized by software.

Is hard drive destruction better than wiping?
It depends on the drive. A healthy drive that will be reused or redeployed can go through documented data sanitization. A drive that is failed, retired, or not approved for reuse is physically disabled and recycled. Many projects use both, and each drive is recorded either way.
Do you provide a Certificate of Destruction?
Yes. Business projects receive a serialized Certificate of Destruction that lists the drives by serial number along with the processing method and date, so you have a record for audits and internal policy.
Does this service support HIPAA and GLBA requirements?

Can I watch the hard drives be destroyed?
No, we do not offer witnessed destruction. Every drive is serialized and documented on a Certificate of Destruction you can verify, so you have an audit-ready record of exactly which drives were processed.
Do you accept SSDs too?
Yes, we accept HDDs, SSDs, and mixed storage media. SSDs and flash media are handled differently from magnetic drives, so tell us what you have and we will confirm the handling and documentation for your project.
Do you provide pickup in Houston?
Yes. Pickup is available for qualifying business loads throughout Greater Houston. Whether pickup is free or priced depends on the quantity and type of equipment, so call for details. Drop-off at our Sugar Land facility is also available.
