Data Center Decommissioning
Clear racks, cages, and full environments with asset inventory, chain of custody, documented data destruction, and responsible recycling.
Built for cloud migrations, colo exits, and facility consolidations
Data center decommissioning is a logistics and compliance project, not just a haul-away. Contracts end on fixed dates, cages must be returned empty, and every data-bearing device needs a documented disposition before your auditors ask about it.
EverTrade handles the full sequence for Greater Houston facilities: asset inventory, de-racking, separation of drives and storage for NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2-aligned destruction, secure transport, and responsible downstream recycling. Send a rack elevation, asset export, or cage photos and we will scope the project.
Common trigger events
- Cloud migration or workload consolidation
- Colocation contract exit or cage downsizing
- Data center closure or relocation
- Hardware refresh across multiple racks
- Merger or acquisition infrastructure cleanup
Equipment we remove
Compute and Storage
- Rack and blade servers
- SAN, NAS, and tape libraries
- Hard drives and SSDs
- GPU and HPC nodes
Network and Power
- Core switches and routers
- Firewalls and load balancers
- PDUs and UPS systems
- Structured cabling
Racks and Infrastructure
- Server racks and cabinets
- Cage and cabinet hardware
- KVM and console gear
- Mixed IT equipment
How a decommissioning project runs
1. Scope
Share rack elevations, an asset export, or photos. We flag data-bearing devices, heavy items, access constraints, and facility requirements.
2. Plan
We coordinate schedules around contract end dates, colocation access rules, escort requirements, and dock availability.
3. De-rack and inventory
Equipment is removed, and serial numbers are captured for the asset classes your documentation requires.
4. Destroy and document
Drives and storage media are separated for NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2-aligned wipe or physical destruction, with Certificates of Destruction available.
5. Transport and recycle
Equipment is transported securely and routed through responsible downstream recycling channels.
Enterprise project scoping
Have racks, cages, or a whole facility to clear?
Send an asset list, rack elevation, or photos. We will turn it into a decommissioning plan with the data destruction documentation your compliance team needs.
