Electronics Recycling for Med Spas
Before-and-after photos, client charts and card data live on your old computers. Retire them with documented data destruction.
The most sensitive data in a med spa is often the photos
Before-and-after photos are tied to client names, treatment notes and consent forms. They tend to be copied everywhere: the camera workstation, the treatment room PC, the marketing computer and backup drives.
Booking and charting platforms keep client histories, medications and contraindications. Many practices run a mix of cloud software and local computers that still hold exports, downloads and cached files.
Card payments add a second set of obligations. Old point-of-sale computers and back-office machines can hold transaction records long after the terminal itself is replaced.
Where the data sits
Treatment rooms
- Treatment room and consultation PCs
- Photo and skin-analysis workstations
- Camera memory cards and USB drives
Front desk
- Booking, charting and check-in computers
- Point-of-sale computers and receipt printers
- Printers and scanners used for intake and consent forms
Back office
- Marketing computers with photo libraries
- Backup drives and NAS boxes
- Network gear and UPS units
Which rules apply to a med spa
- If your practice bills insurance electronically, you are a HIPAA covered entity and the Security Rule disposal requirements (45 CFR 164.310(d)(2)) apply directly.
- If you are cash-pay, Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 181 still treats a business that collects or stores protected health information in Texas as a covered entity under state law. Treatment records and identifiable photos fall inside that definition.
- PCI DSS requires electronic media holding cardholder data to be destroyed when it is no longer needed. A serialized Certificate of Destruction documents that step for the drives we process.
EverTrade is not R2 certified; downstream material is routed through certified partners. See our standards and practices.

Med Spas FAQ
Our iPads hold client photos. Can you wipe them?
We recycle tablets and phones, but we do not offer a verified wipe or certificate for them. Erase each working iPad first with Settings, General, Transfer or Reset iPad, Erase All Content and Settings, then bring it in. Call ahead about any device you cannot erase.
Do you take lasers and aesthetic devices?
Call us with the make and model. Many are leased or covered by a trade-in program, and some need the manufacturer involved. We will tell you whether we can take the unit or only its data-bearing parts.
We are cash-pay. Do we still need this?
Texas privacy law and PCI DSS both reach cash-pay practices that keep client records and take cards. Documented disposal is the simplest way to show you handled that data properly.
Can you pick up from our location?
Business pickup is available for qualifying loads and is quoted by the quantity and type of equipment. Small loads can be dropped off at our Sugar Land facility.
